Beale Street Music Festival

This weekend I attended my first music festival! I’ve always wanted to go to a music festival, but when they come around my money is never right LOL. Plus, I don’t like large crowds and I’m short so it’s easy for me to get lost in the sauce. But this year I have a made a commitment to try new things.

As part of my birthday celebration, Justin got us tickets to the Beale Street Music Festival. It’s not as big as Coachcella or Made in America, but it’s a nice event that sheds a positive light on the city of Memphis. I liked that we got through the line quickly and was able to get very close to the stage. Next time, we’re going to invest in some insoles and fans cause it was hot and our feet were crying by the end of the night. I don’t think I’m ready for a huge festival, but I can see myself supporting smaller ones that highlight upcoming and local artists.

Now, most of the artists I am not familiar with (check out the line up below), but there was only one that I cared about. I NEVER miss a chance to see Mama Badu. I love this woman like the Hive loves Bey. . . .it’s that serious. And this experience has FOREVER changed my life.

Mama Badu HELD my hand. . . HELD IT! I looked at Justin like if you don’t get this picture right now. It’s blurry but my hand is the one with the black FitBit. Nothing else mattered in that moment or afterwards. I literally had tears in my eyes. Her performance was great, as always, but being that close to her, holding her hand. . .my life has come full circle LOL. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Check out a snippet of her performance below.
