Every beat of my heart. . .

I could list a million and one reasons why joining a black sorority was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life, but I’ll keep it short. I joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incoporated Fall 2012 with 13 other ammmmazzzzing women! One of the questions asked during interviews was “why do you want to be a member of this organization?” Based on my research and the things I observed at my former university, Zeta was the only organization that I felt I could be myself. I didn’t have to look a certain way or act a certain way to be welcomed. And to witness one person uphold the principles with such grace, really spoke to me. The whole vibe of the organization is down-to-earth and about the business. That’s how I knew I couldn’t let the opportunity pass when I saw the informational flyer.

The simply fact that we work hard to uphold our principals has kept me engaged and financially active. My sisters alone are a testatment to that. They have fed me, clothed me, legit housed me with no questions asked. A bond like that is unbreakable. Of course we argue, we’re sisters. And just like sisters, we protect each other even when we’re mad. A true definition of sisterhood! My favorite principle is Finer Womanhood 😎. It takes being refined and on top of your game to the next level. I love how each member is able to grow and blossom with the love and support of other women.

If I haven’t learned anything else in these 4.5 years that I’ve been a part of this sorority, it’s that the experience is what you make it. I joined with an open mind and heart, hoping to gain true friends and endless opportunities to become the best version of myself. What you put in it, it’s what you get out of it. So my post may seem a little biased, but I truly love my sisters and my sorority. They have been there for the worst moments of my life to the biggest accomplishments of my life thus far. I have networked and connected with sorors all across the nation. This commitment is forever and I can’t wait to see where we’ll be in 20 years.

Z-Phi my sorors! 💙
